Through the first one to four hours the heart pulls drier and warmer, as vetiver settles in and the pepper rounds off into a more composed, slightly resinous middle. After four hours the base takes over with guaiac wood smoking quietly underneath, leaving a dry, woody trail that stays close without going flat.
